Ophthalmology (Eyes)
The mission of the Optometry Service is to conserve the fighting strength in the realm of vision care by providing the highest quality primary eye care to eligible patients within the constraints of available personnel, equipment, and facilities. We are focused on duty and compassion, providing exceptional service with integrity. The Optometry Service provides primary eye health at three separate locations (IACH, FHC, CHHC) during the hours of 0730-1630.

Patients eligible for appointments in the Optometry Service:
  • All Active Duty and Active Duty TRICARE Prime patients (MTF or network). Currently seeing AD Family Members
  • TRICARE Prime Retirees and Retiree Family Members
  • TRICARE eligible patients enrolled in another MTF who are TDY or traveling needing acute care

  • Physicals
  • Spectacle ordering, pick-up, and adjustment
  • Drivers license screening
Comprehensive Primary Eye Care:

  • Comprehensive visual and ocular health assessments to include eye health, accommodative and binocular disorders, and prescriptions for glasses.
  • Evaluation and treatment for ocular trauma and eye diseases such as glaucoma, keratoconus, dry eyes, conjunctivitis, keratitis, and blepharitis.
Limited Contact Lens Services:

  • Therapeutic contact lens fitting
  • Contact lens fitting possible on a case by case basis if patient is currently wearing lenses, has the most recent prescription and at least one set of lenses

Optometry Service (Eyes)
The Optometry Service is the primary eye care provider for the MEDDAC. The Optometry Service provides comprehensive vision examination to include testing for glasses and contact lenses as well as preventative eye health checks. We prescribe eye medications for the diagnosis and treatment of eye injury and disease. We perform specialized testing for eye disease management including ocular photography, topography, pachymetry and visual field testing. We perform the vision portion of military and civilian physical examinations of all types including vision examinations for driver's license renewal. We comanage surgeries including cataract surgeries and Laser Refractive Surgery with the Opthalmology department.

Otolaryngology (Head and Neck)
The Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Department at Irwin Army Community Hospital is committed to caring for the needs of soldiers, dependents, and retirees presenting with a wide range of pathologies involving the ears, nose, and throat. This clinic is prepared to provide quality care to both soldiers stationed at Ft. Riley or deployed here on an operational mission. Our patients, both young and old, can expect to receive quality, compassionate care and timely treatment of their medical condition from experienced personnel. Our staff are dedicated to making our patients feel comfortable, knowledgeable, and involved in their healthcare. There is also an Audio logy section that works together with or clinic for all hearing related issues. We look forward to caring for you and your family's ENT needs.
