OB Education
  1. What’s an OB Education Appointment?
    1. OB Education appointment is usually done between 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy.
    2. This education appointment is done on a one-to-one basis with an OB Nurse.
    3. This appointment is intended to establish your medical chart as a patient in our clinic.

  2. Before Your OB Education Appointment?
    Please gather:
    1. Copies of any previous medical records or operative reports from previous cesarean deliveries, bring them with you.
    2. If you are transferring care to our clinic, please bring copies of your prenatal records, all labs and ultrasound reports.
    3. Having a list of current medications with dosages is extremely helpful as well.
    4. Be sure to make a list of any questions or concerns that you have regarding your pregnancy so that you can discuss them with the OB Nurse.

  3. Day of Your OB Education Appointment
    1. Arrive 20-30 minutes early.
    2. You will be given questionnaires to fill out reguarding your health history.
    3. For your safety and the safety of your children, we ask that if the children accompany you to any appointments, please bring a patent provided support person.

  4. OB Education Appointment
    The following will be discussed during the OB Education session:
    1. Go over all your health / pregnancy histories.
    2. Discuss any concerns that you may have regarding your current pregnancy.
    3. Education is provided regarding the pregnancy, general health and nutrition.
    4. Go over the schedule of appointment for the duration of the pregnancy.
    5. Go over the Pregnancy and Childbirth book (purple book).
    6. OB Nurse will order routine blood tests. Other blood tests will be ordered based on your medical / pregnancy history.
    7. After your Education appointment, the OB Nurse will schedule your New OB Physical exam with a provider, if not already done. This appointment is scheduled between 10-12 weeks.
    8. Do not expect an ultrasound at this visit. Your assigned provider will make the determination at that time, if it medically indicated.
