OB Visits - Low Risk Pregnancies
Uncomplicated Pregnancy
With each visit, your OB provider will provide you with the advice appropriate for that particular gestational age.

Your OB provider will also address any issues that you have regarding your pregnancy.

For uncomplicated pregnancy, one ultrasound is all that is needed. Further ultrasound will be order by your OB provider if you develop pregnancy complications.

OB Visists - Uncomplicated Pregnancy
  1. OB Physical - This usually is schedule between 10 – 12 weeks of pregnancy.
    What you can expect during this visit:
    1. Go over your health / pregnancy history again
    2. Go over your blood test results
    3. Physical examination
    4. Pelvic exam
      1. Pap smear
      2. Screening for sexually transmitted infection of the cervix and vagina.

  2. 14-20 Week visit for Uncomplicated Pregnancies.
    What you can expect during this visit:
    1. Listen to baby’s heart beat
    2. Discussion about the optional Maternal Serum Analyte screen and Cystic Fibrosis, if not previously done
    3. Provider will order anatomy ultrasound to be done between 20-22 weeks
    4. Ultrasound will not be done during visit

  3. 24 Week visit for Uncomplicated Pregnancies.
    What you can expect during this visit:
    1. Listen to baby’s heart beat
    2. Discuss ultrasound result
    3. Discuss Triple screen result and Cystic Fibrosis results
    4. Discuss issues that you may have at this time
    5. Discuss what to expect during this time of the pregnancy
    6. Order Glucose Tolerance Test

  4. 32 Week visit for Uncomplicated Pregnancies.
    What you can expect during this visit:
    1. Listen to baby’s heart beat
    2. Discussion of birth plan
    3. Discuss issues that you may have at this time
    4. Discuss what to expect during this time of the pregnancy
    5. Discuss preterm labor signs and symptoms
    6. Discuss Fetal kick counts

  5. 36 Week visit for Uncomplicated Pregnancies.
    What you can expect during this visit:
    1. Listen to baby’s heart beat
    2. Screening for Group Beta Streptococcus (GBS)
    3. Go over birth plan that you have developed (that is, if you want one).
    4. Discuss issues that you may have at this time
    5. Discuss what to expect during this time of the pregnancy

  6. 38 - 42 Week visit for Uncomplicated Pregnancies.
    What you can expect during this visit:
    1. Listen to baby’s heart beat
    2. Cervical exam as needed or with patient request

  7. 41 + Week visit for Uncomplicated Pregnancies.
    What you can expect during this visit:
    1. Schedule for induction if still not delivered
    2. Fetal nonstress test and amniotic fluid index by ultrasound
    3. Cervical exam
